The summer in Switzerland is perfect for music lovers. Packed full of inspirational music festivals and concerts, the months of July, August and September are ideal for guests who enjoy listening to live music performed by some of the most talented names in the industry.

Many of the performances are complimentary and hosted in wonderful outdoor locations and do not require prior reservation.  Hidden Dragon can organize tickets to the following events below but booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment. 

Transport to and from the concerts will be provided so that guests may return to Hidden Dragon’s serenity after a vibrant evening.

The Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux

July 2nd to July 17th 2010

Approximately 30 minute drive from Hidden Dragon. Founded by Claude Nobs in 1967, over the years the Montreux Jazz Festival has become an unmissable event for music fans in Switzerland and around the world. Its stages have been graced by all of music’s greats, from Miles Davis to Ray Charles and from David Bowie to Prince. Whereas Jazz constitutes the Festival’s historic core, other styles of music were quickly integrated into the Festival, bound together by a common thread of mutual curiosity and enthusiasm. Verbier Festival, Verbier, Les 4 Vallées

July 16th to August 1st 2010

Approximately 50 minute drive from Hidden Dragon. The Verbier Festival celebrates its 17th edition of the 17-day long event. The event is renowned for bringing together the biggest names in classical music every summer, along with some 40,000 spectators. The Verbier Festival Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit will open the festival in concert with pianist Yuja Wang, a young prodigy discovered at Verbier, and will culminate the evening of August 1 with a production of Salomé, the celebrated opera of Richard Strauss with Deborah Voigt in the title role, under the direction of Valery Gergiev. Nendaz Alphorn Festival, Nendaz, Les 4 Vallées

July 23rd to July 25th 2010

Approximately 15 minutes drive from Hidden Dragon. The little alpine village of Nendaz welcomes the annual International Alphorn Festival. It describes itself as a festival devoted to tradition and folklore. The traditional event features folkloric dancing, country balls, a contest and impromptu jamming sessions between the horn players, all followed by a livestock parade led by the musicians. Guinness Irish Festival, Sion

August 5th to August 7th 2010

Approximately 15 minute drive from Hidden Dragon. Now in its 16th year, the Guinness Irish Festival has received international acclaim for providing a platform for the biggest stars in Irish music. The Dubliners and The Chieftains and Jethro Tull are just a few performers who have graced the stage at Sion. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are one of many bands scheduled to play this August. Festival International de Musique, Sion

August 18th to September 12th 2010

Approximately 15 minute drive from Hidden Dragon. The 46th International Music Festival Sion Valais is comprised of recitals, chamber music performances, as well as choral and symphonic concerts. It brings together young rising stars and internationally renowned musicians, such as Yuri Bashmet (viola), Lovro Pogorelich (piano), Sean Botkin (piano), Hagai Shaham (violin), Cihat Askin (violin) and Maestro Shlomo Mintz, who will perform as violinist and conductor. Sierre Blues Festival, Sierre

August 26th to August 29th 2010

Approximately 25 minutes drive from Hidden Dragon. Sierre's annual blues festival takes place in the charming town of Sierre set in the valley below the majestic mountains of the Valais canton. Featuring a variety of international artists from as far a field as the USA such as Sharrie Williams and Canned Heat, Canada and Norway, there are also a performers from native Switzerland.
